Galatasaray Crowned Turkish Super Cup Champions For The 6th Time After Defeating Akhisar

Galatasaray have been crowned Turkish Super Cup champions for the 6th time after defeating Akhisar 1-0 at the Eryaman Stadium on Wednesday.

The Lions won the league title and the Turkish Cup last term.

Akhisar qualified as runners-up in the Turkish Cup – which they lost to Galatasaray.

Younes Belhanda scored the only goal of the game with a lovely finish in the first half.

Summer arrival Jean Michael Seri provided the assist for the winning striker.

The Fulham loanee made his official debut for the Lions starting against Akhisar.

Additionally, Adem Buyuk, Ryan Babel, Jimmy Durmaz and Celta Vigo loanee Emre Mor all made their debut – all were summer transfers.

Galatasaray head into the 2019-20 campaign in high spirits.

Head coach Fatih Terim lost central midfielders Badou N’Diaye and Fernando this summer but did manage to bring in Seri.

Terim otherwise has pretty much the same squad which has been strengthened in attack.

The Yellow-Reds have one final friendly left against Fiorentina on Sunday before their kick off the league campaign against Denizlispor on Friday 16 August.
