Galatasaray sporting director Cenk Ergün has revealed that the club have been in talks with Didier Drogba but did not reveal the nature of the negotiations.

“Talks with Drogba are ongoing but only in the sense of friendship, he still has a contract with his current club,” Ergün told Fanatik.

The Lions have proposed Drogba roles at the club following his retirement but the Ivorian striker currently plays for MLS side Montreal.

Drogba spent two seasons at Galatasaray and scored 20 goals in 53 games before joining Chelsea in the summer.

The Ivory Coast international won the Süper Lig, Turkish Cup and reached the quarter-final of the Champions League while at the Lions.

Drogba provided two assists and seven goals in 40 appearances for Chelsea last season and has hit the ground running in the MLS scoring 11 goals in 11 appearances.

The former Chelsea star maintains close ties with Galatasaray and Turkey. Drogba is a brand ambassador for Turkish Airlines and has starred in several promotional campaigns for the global airline company in the past as well.
