Galatasaray Injury Update Ahead of Man United Clash

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk faces two injury concerns heading into the Champions League match day 5 Group A Manchester United clash on Wednesday.

The Lions defeated Alanyaspor 4-0 in the Super Lig with goals from Mauro Icardi, Dries Mertens and Wilfried Zaha.

The Red-Yellows were without Abdülkerim Bardakcı against Alanyaspor who were not included in the squad because he was injured in the training session held the day before the match.

Bardakcı’s injury is not serious and he is expected to return in time for the United clash.

Kerem Akturkoglu was rested against Alanyaspor but he was given a rest and is not injury, he will be available for the Champions League game.

Meanwhile, Davinson Sanchez, who started the match suffered an injury and had to be taken off.

Galatasaray issued a statement about the status of the defender.

The statement read: “Davinson Sanchez, who was injured in the Corendon Alanyaspor match played in the 13th week of the Trendyol Super League, was taken to our sponsor hospital Medicana where his MRI was taken, the 2nd degree strain (force) was detected in the upper left back muscle group and the treatment of the player was started.”

Sanchez injury is not serious but he faces a race against time to recover in time for the United game.

In his absence Victor Nelsson will be expected to start as centre-back and if Bardakci is out Kaan Ayhan will fill in as his defensive partner.

Galatasaray face no other injury concerns or suspensions heading into the game.

The Red-Yellows are currently third in Group A and trail second placed Copenhangen on goal difference. United meanwhile, are last on just three points.

Galatasaray beat United 3-2 at Old Trafford in the group the last time these two sides met. Copenhagen meanwhile, will face Bayern Munich in the other game.
