Galatasaray missed out on signing Marquinhos while he was playing at Corinthians according to football agent Bayram Dağdeviren.

“Fatih Terim wanted Marquinhos when he was playing at Corinthians aged just 18,” Dağdeviren said.

“However, Galatasaray found Corinthians asking price of €5.5 million too much.

“Roma snapped him up for €4.5 million shortly after and a season later he went to PSG for €35 million like we all know.”

Galatasaray opted to sign fellow Brazilian Alex Telles for €6 million instead.

The Lions have two Brazilian players, Telles and Felipe Melo. Galatasaray also have a Brazilian goalkeeper coach, former World Cup winner Claudio Taffarel.

Terim resigned from his position as Galatasaray manager last season. The experienced coach is now Turkish national team head coach.

Turkey are currently last in Euro 2016 qualification Group A.
