Galatasaray recorded a comfortable 5-1 win over Genclerbirligi in the Turkish Super League on Friday evening.

Manager Igor Tudor made several changes to his starting lineup following a defeat to Trabzonspor last weekend. Eren Derdiyork started up-front alongside Bafetimbi Gomis for the first time this season.

Manchester City defender Jason Denayer was also included in Tudor’s starting eleven as part of a back three. The Belgium international has been frequently deployed by the Croatian tactician in recent weeks.

The Lions had the game wrapped up by half time following goals from Mariano and Maicon.

Maicon scored a career high four goals in a single season as a result of his header.

Gomis and Tolga Cigerci added to the score in second half while Scekic netted a consolation goal for the visitors.

Cigerci now has six goals for Galatasaray which is the joint highest number of goals scored by a midfielder in the Top 5 leagues + the Super Lig alongside Manchester City star Leroy Sane.

Gomis now has 11 goals in 11 games for the Istanbul giants.

A poor Genclerbirligi came at a perfect time for Galatasaray following a difficult fortnight. The spotlight will be off Igor Tudor and his players as we head into the international break.

Galatasaray take on their Istanbul rivals Istanbul Basaksehir in the next round of Turkish Super Lig games on November 18.
