Turkish champions Galatasaray are poised to generate a substantial sum from the highly anticipated unveiling of star striker Victor Osimhen, even before he makes his official debut. The club expects to raise up to €5 million from ticket sales and merchandise when Osimhen is presented to fans at RAMS Park this Saturday, August 2, ahead of a friendly match against Lazio.
This strategic financial maneuver, reported by Turkish outlet Fotomac, highlights Galatasaray’s proactive approach to managing their significant investment in the Nigerian international. The club aims to mitigate the financial impact of what is widely considered their boldest transfer to date.
Tickets for the event, which will also feature the introduction of new signing Leroy Sané, have been priced at a premium, with the cheapest entry set at 1,300 Turkish Lira. Galatasaray anticipates a sold-out stadium, with supporters eager to witness the arrival of their new talisman.
The projected revenue of €5 million would account for roughly 7% of the total €75 million transfer fee Galatasaray agreed to pay Napoli for Osimhen. The deal comprises an upfront payment of €40 million, with the remaining €35 million structured in installments, and also includes a sell-on clause.
Galatasaray moved swiftly to secure Osimhen, fending off interest from top European clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal. Reports from Italy confirm that all contractual details are finalized, and the striker is expected to arrive in Istanbul by Wednesday.
Beyond ticket sales, a significant boost in merchandise revenue is also anticipated. Galatasaray stores are preparing for a surge in demand for Osimhen-themed kits and memorabilia. Club officials view this fan-driven financial contribution as crucial to ensuring the sustainability of the deal without jeopardizing the club’s financial health.
Galatasaray’s passionate fanbase, renowned for their fervent loyalty, is playing a direct role in supporting the club’s ambitious transfer strategy, making this one of European football’s most striking moves of the summer. Osimhen’s previous loan spell at Galatasaray from Napoli saw him deliver an outstanding performance, scoring 37 goals and providing eight assists, leading the team to a historic league and cup double.
