Galatasaray Vice-President Claims Club Ready to Activate Osimhen’s Release Clause

In a bold declaration, Galatasaray vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu has asserted that the newly crowned Turkish Super Lig champions are prepared to meet Victor Osimhen’s release clause at Napoli and match the Nigerian striker’s wage demands to secure his permanent transfer.

Osimhen has enjoyed a sensational loan spell at Rams Park, proving instrumental in Okan Buruk’s side achieving a domestic league and cup double this season. The prolific 26-year-old has netted an impressive 36 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions. His 25 goals in 29 league games currently place him as the Turkish Super Lig’s top scorer, with Basaksehir’s Krzysztof Piatek his closest competitor on 21.

While Osimhen is set to return to Naples in the off-season, his future at Napoli under new head coach Antonio Conte appears uncertain, and he has been linked with numerous top clubs across Europe. However, Galatasaray are determined to make his temporary stay a permanent one.

Kavukcu was quoted by A Spor, revealing the club’s long-standing pursuit of the formidable forward. “We talked to my president about Osimhen in January,” Kavukcu stated. “We told Osimhen in January: ‘We want you very much, don’t go anywhere. We are working to get your transfer.’”

He further elaborated on Galatasaray’s commitment: “We are developing projects for this. We developed them to sit at that table and we are at that table right now. We are ready to get his transfer and pay the salaries he will receive from Europe.”

Galatasaray’s decisive move indicates their ambition to retain the services of the in-form striker who has quickly become a fan favorite and a central figure in their recent triumphs. The coming weeks will likely reveal whether their financial readiness will be enough to fend off other European heavyweights and secure Osimhen’s long-term future in Istanbul.
