Gary Neville destroys Arsenal star – ‘Like he is down a coal mine’

Former England international Gary Neville has ripped into Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil following his performance against Man City.

Ozil’s contract with Arsenal expires in a little over 12 months. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has stated that talks over a new deal are on hold until the summer.

However, Neville believes Wenger has misplaced his trust in the Germany international.

The SkySports pundit criticised Ozil’s attitude and stated that he does not work hard enough.

“I don’t like the Sanchez situation, but I think on the pitch I can live with it because it looks like he fights for every single thing in the world,” Neville stated live on SkySports.

“With Mesut Ozil, I can’t be watching him play football sometimes — and that sounds disrespectful from someone who was a clobber as a football player.

“But when you watch [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo, who give their all in every single match, I won’t sit here and accept that someone plays football looking like he’s down a coal mine.”

Arsenal fell further away from the top four following their draw on Sunday. The Gunners are now seven points behind fourth place with just one game in hand.

Arsene Wenger’s side host their London rivals West Ham United this week as they look to return to winning ways.

Arsenal have won just one of their last five games in the Premier league.
