Germany take on Mexico in their opening World Cup 2018 game at the Luzhniki Stadium in Russia.

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has fully recovered from a minor knee injury, coach Joachim Low said on Saturday.

The 29-year-old picked up a knock during the 2-1 defeat to Austria on June 2 and had to miss the friendly against Saudi Arabia six days later in the final warm-up game before the start of the tournament.

The playmaker of Turkish origin has played in every Germany game over the past two World Cups and if he is match fit he will be likely to start or at least feature.

“All players are fit. Mesut Ozil this week completed two additional training sessions and can play,” Low said. “But I will discuss the final line-up with the team this evening. There are two, three ideas in my head for the line-up.”

The other Germany international of Turkish origin Ilkay Gunodgan is also available for selection.

There are a total of three ethnic Turkey at the World Cup, Ozil, Gundogan and Australia full-back Aziz Behich.

Germany and Mexico have met 11 times, with the former winning six times. Mexico have won just once – back in 1985, against West Germany.
