Germany vs Sweden: Probable Line-ups – Ilkay Gundogan Hoping To Make World Cup Debut

Germany take on Sweden in the World Cup Group F Match Day 2 clash at the Fisht Olympic Stadium on Saturday.

The defending champions suffered a shock 1-0 defeat against Mexico on Match Day One.

Joachim Low is not expected to make sweeping changes following defeat and Mesut Ozil is likely to keep his place in the team.

Germany will be without Mats Hummels, who injured his neck in training.

Sami Khedira looks likely to be dropped from midfield and could be replaced by Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

If Ozil and Gundogan were to start Germany would have two ethnic Turks in their starting lineup.

Gundogan would also be making his World Cup debut if he were to make the team.

The 27-year-old was an unused substitute against Mexico and missed the previous World Cup due to injury.

Cologne’s Jonas Hector missed the Mexico game through illness, but should fill in for Hertha Berlin’s Marvin Plattenhardt.

Former Besiktas striker Mario Gomez could replace Timo Werner upfront.

The last time these two sides met was in 2014 World Cup qualifying, with 16 goals being scored across the two games.
