“Give the armband to Emre Can lad” – Liverpool fans react on social media to midfielder’s display against Atletico Madrid
Liverpool suffered a defeat in the final of the Audi Cup on Wednesday evening.
The pre-season clash ended as a 1-1 tie and Atletico Madrid came out on top after a penalty shootout.
The La Liga giants took the lead after 33 minutes following a strike from Bare. However, Firmino levelled the game seven minutes from full-time.
Club captain Jordan Henderson missed his penalty attempt while Atletico scored all five penalties.
Liverpool defeated Hertha Berlin and Bayern Munich on the way to the Audo Cup final.
Germany international Emre Can was included in Jurgen Klopp’s starting line up against Atleti.
The 23-year-old featured in all three Audi Cup games, despite having under 12 months remaining on his contract and being linked with a move to Juventus.

Can is not as important as hendo no way ner if we had got keita u think can would get alot of minits this season or we probs would sell him.can is average he not rubish but no wer ner worldclass and thts type u need these days ppl an media taik about can like he is in top 7. He not even in top ten of top quality midfeilders
Can been at lfc for how long has he improved since he first put on a lfc shirt ? Nooooooo …. is the anser ….. clopp comes in as can improved as a player? Nooooo ….. has lAllana inproved yess.. has phill tino stept up another leval yesss..hendo has improved even down to mereno has improved his game. Can has stayed the same.
