“Got him off the hook” – Glenn Hoddle criticises Mesut Ozil despite scoring goal for Arsenal

Mesut Ozil

Former England national team manager Glen Hoddle has criticised Mesut Ozil following Arsenal’s win over Vorskla.

Ozil came on in the second half in place of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and went on to score his second goal of the season.

However, Hoddle managed to find fault in the former Germany international’s performance and went as far to say Ozil’s goal got him off the hook.

“He lost the ball quite a few times. Sometimes its too easy for a player like that,” Glenn Hoddle stated live on BT Sport after the game.

“He overplayed a little bit and lost the ball a few times. Scored his goal which got him off the hook a little bit.”

Ozil appears to have put a turbulent supper behind him following two goals in the space of a week. The 29-year-old started Thrusday night’s game on the bench and is therefore expected to return to the starting eleven this weekend.
