Gundogan – ‘I love visiting Turkey’ [divider]
Borussia Dortmund star İlkay Gündoğan revealed that he loves to visit Turkey and is good friends with Arda Turan.
“I go to Turkey a lot, I visit my home town of Balıkesir where my grandparents live,” Gündoğan said.
“I went to Çeşme for my summer holiday this year, I met with Burak Yılmaz, Selçuk İnan and Emre Belözoğlu.
“Emre is like my older brother, we speak a lot.
“I played against Arda Turan once in a astroturf game in Istanbul which we ended up winning.
“Of course there is also Hamit and Halil Altıntop they are like my older brothers and I see them a lot.
“I watch the big Turkish derbies a lot, the matches are not like the games played here, they are so passionate and full of tension.
“It is like there is always a sending off, people get very emotional and the fans are fanatical, playing football in Turkey is tough.”
Gündoğan was born in Germany to Turkish parents, the 24-year-old represents Germany at international level and has eight caps for the Mannschaft.
