Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that star midfielder Emre can is an option for this weekends UEFA Champions League final.

The Reds take on Real Madrid at the Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex on Saturday, kick-off is scheduled for 19:45 (GMT).

Can hasn’t featured for Liverpool for over a month due to a back injury he picked up in March.

The 24-year-old stepped up his rehabilitation this week after joining the rest of his teammates in training. Can has participated in several full sessions at Melwood and is available for selection against Madrid.

Klopp confirmed the news during an interview with LiverpoolFC.com.

“Millie was clear [he would be fit] and Emre is a surprise,” Klopp told Liverpool’s official website.

“He told me he would come back, try this and that and then we would talk to people.

“We thought it would be difficult, but he came back and from the first day it was like, ‘OK, that looks good, how do you feel?’ ‘Very good’ and then the next day ‘very good’ again.

“Now he trains completely normal. He’s a nice option and that’s why he is with us.”

However, Liverpool legend John Aldridge has urged Klopp to leave Can out of the squad. Aldridge believes Can’s heart is not at Liverpool following recent reports linking him with a Juventus move.

The Germany international’s contract with the Reds expires this summer.
