Heavy Rain Threatens to Disrupt Man United Clash Against Galatasaray

The possibility of heavy rain in Istanbul has raised concerns about whether the Galatasaray vs Manchester United match will be postponed according to the Milliyet.

Rain is expected to continue throughout the day in Istanbul, and if the intensity of the rain increases at the time of the match, the game could be in danger.

The U19 clash between Galatasaray and United which took place earlier today did go ahead but the playing conditions worsened towards the end of the game.

The rain has been increasing in intensity since yesterday and it is expected to continue to affect the area where the Ali Sami Yen Stadium is located.

If the rain continues to fall heavily at the time of the match, the match officials may have to postpone the game. The decision will be made based on the condition of the pitch before the match.

There is a precedent for European Cup matches being postponed due to rain. In 2016, the Manchester City-Monchengladbach match was postponed to a day later after the referees decided that the pitch was unplayable.

UEFA rules dictate that if a game is called off it must go ahead either on the next day, a reserve day, or another date set by the European football’s governing body.

The match officials will make their decision based on whether the ball is able to bounce on the pitch or not.

UEFA will be monitoring the situation closely and will make a decision on whether to postpone the match as soon as possible.
