“The Hornets are on their holidays” – Merson reveals prediction for Liverpool v Watford clash

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has revealed his prediction for tonight’s Watford v Liverpool clash.

The Hornets host Liverpool at Vicarage Road, kick-off is scheduled for 20:00 (GMT).

Walter Mazzarri’s side sit comfortably in 13th spot and are free from the threat of relegation. Watford have won their last three games at home.

Liverpool meanwhile suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace last weekend. The Reds have so-far struggled against the leagues lesser sides this season.

However, Merson feels Liverpool will have too much for a Watford and has predicted a 3-0 scoreline in the Reds favour.

“When Liverpool play the likes of Man City away, I fancy them to get a draw or even more. But when they face teams like Watford, I’m not so sure,” Merson told SkySports.

“That’s been the problem with them this season. They are playing Watford and I’m having to think about it.

“Having said that, the Hornets are on their holidays. Hull had 10 men and beat them 2-0. If that doesn’t say it all, nothing will.”

Liverpool currently find themselves in third spot with 66 points after 34 games. Jurgen Klopp’s side will be in a buoyant mood after Man City, Man United and Arsenal all dropped points this weekend.

The Reds can go three points clear of fourth placed Man City if they record a victory tonight.
