“I could also sign for Liverpool” Germany international responds to contract dispute with Liverpool

Liverpool star midfielder Emre Can has commented on his long standing contract stand-off.

The 23-year-old could end up leaving the Merseyside based club for free next Summer after failing to pen a new deal with Liverpool.

Can told the Liverpool Echo that money isn’t the reason a new deal hasn’t been agreed.

Per the source, Juventus appear to be the the front-runners in the race to secure Can’s signature.

The Germany international was however frustrated to be asked about his future at Liverpool.

“Why do you ask me this? Really, I concentrate on this season and let my agent handle all the rest,” Can told the Liverpool Echo.

“It is not about money, that’s all I can say.

“Yes I could (sign a pre-contract with another club next month), but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool. We’ll see.”

According to the Echo, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to keep hold of the 23-year-old. Emre Can’s agent’s desire for a release clause to be included in the deal is understood to be a major stumbling block in talks.
