“I dream of winning” – Man City Star Issues Rallying Cry Ahead Of UEFA Champions League Draw

Manchester City star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan believes Man City can win the UEFA Champions League.

The Citizens crashed out of the Champions League after suffering a 5-1 defeat on aggregate to Liverpool.

Gundogan believes City are now more mature and can win the Champions League this season.

“I dream of winning the Champions League title with Manchester City and a title with Germany,” Gundogan told the German outlet WAZ.

“In Manchester last season we had the feeling that we are ready for it. It was not enough. This year nothing has changed in this feeling.

“I believe that we are even a bit more mature. We have the potential to become Champions League winners.”

The Germany international has also stated that he is grateful for the support he received while he was injured. Gundogan spent close to a year on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury shortly after he joined City.

“I enjoy playing at Manchester City. I’m satisfied right now and well on the way to getting back into shape,” Gundogan went onto say.

“The leaders of the club were always behind me in the difficult phase and I had complete support. I do not forget something like that.”

Gundogan has established himself as a key member of Pep Guardiola’s side this season. The 27-year-old started all three of City’s Premier League games this term.

City were held to a 1-1 draw last weekend by the newly promoted Wolves FC. The Citizens will be hoping to return to winning ways when they take on Newcastle United on Saturday.
