“I find it bizarre” – Liverpool Ace Questions Jurgen Klopp’s Decision After Allowing Karius To Leave

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has expressed his disappointment at not being allowed to leave the club on loan.

Besiktas were linked with both Loris Karius and Mignolet over the summer transfer window.

Liverpool rejected the Black Eagles approach for Mignolet but have allowed Karius to join the Istanbul based club.

Karius completed his two-year loan move to Besiktas on Saturday.

Mignolet spoke with the Belgium press following Karius’ departure and relayed his confusion regarding the matter.

“The transfer for Karius does not change anything for me”, Mignolet told Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws.

“I have always been clear, I want to play. Number two or number three makes little difference.

“Playing minutes are the most important.

“Nothing has been told to me after the departure of Karius, so I do not know what my future at Liverpool is. We will see what happens this week.

“I find it bizarre that Karius has been loaned, while I also had options to be loaned. But for some reason that was not possible.

“A goalkeeper who got the nod over me last year may leave on loan. Strange.”

Mignolet lost his place in Liverpool’s starting eleven after Jurgen Klopp promoted Loris Karius to first-choice.

The Belgium international was however included in Klopp’s 18-man match day squad against Brighton on Saturday afternoon.

Liverpool registered a 1-0 win over Brighton on Saturday. The Reds are back in action next weekend when they take on an in-form Leicester City.
