“I haven’t even seen him” – Man United receive boost as Arsenal boss admits star playmaker could miss weekend clash
Arsenal star Mesut Ozil could miss the Gunners clash with Manchester United this weekend.
The 29-year-old surprisingly missed the north London-based club’s game against Burnley over the weekend due to an illness.
Thankfully Arsenal managed to overcome the Clarets despite their star playmaker’s absence.
Speaking after the game, Wenger stated that he hadn’t seen Ozil and that news of the Germany international’s exclusion came shortly before kick-off.
Wenger also admitted that Ozil may not be fit for this weekends clash with Man United.

“I don’t know, I haven’t even seen him,” Wenger told reporters after the game when asked about Ozil’s situation.
“The doctor came to see me and said he [Ozil] had to travel back home. He was in the hotel with us. He travelled up with us, then travelled back. We brought Maitland-Niles up, who arrived at 1 p.m. because we had only 17 players.
“How bad is he? Will he be available for Wednesday? Certainly he will be short [of fitness] for Wednesday [against Huddersfield]. We will have to see what it is exactly.”
Ozil’s long-term Arsenal future is still cast in doubt after failing to pen a new deal with the north-London based club.
The 29-year-old could end up leaving the club next summer for free unless a new deal is agreed of if Arsenal sell him in January.
