‘I love Jose Mourinho – Arsenal star bookmakers favourite to sign for Man United reveals thoughts on manager

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has revealed his thoughts on Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho in his new autobiography.

Ozil will have just 12 months remaining on his contract at the end of the season and he has been linked with United so his comments could end up getting Gunners fans worried.

The bookmakers have United as favourites for being Ozil’s next club.

Writing in his new book Gunning for Greatness, Ozil said: “I love Jose Mourinho.

“He alone is the reason why I went to Real Madrid from Werder Bremen in 2010. I didn’t choose the club, I chose him.

“I chose the man, Jose Mourinho. I wanted to play for him and no one else.

“I’d harboured this strong desire since 2008. Back then, at the beginning of October, I’d played for Werder Bremen against Inter Milan in the Giuseppe Meazza stadium.”

Ozil did end up playing under the stewardship of Mourinho during his time at Real Madrid.

The Germany international of Turkish origin won the La Liga title during his time at the club.

The 28-year-old ended up joining Arsenal for a record £42.5 million fee (Guardian) in 2013 and has gone onto win two FA Cup trophies at the North London outfit.

Ozil has yet to reveal what he will decide regarding his future.

Arsenal will be hoping to avoid another Robin van Persie situation. The former Gunners striker left the North London club for United with 12 months remaining on his contract.

The transfer did not go down well with Arsenal fans but Van Persie did win the Premier League title with United.

The playmaker has 11 goals and 11 assists in all competitions for the North London outfit this season.
