“I want talented players” – Arsenal boss Unai Emery sends message to Mesut Ozil

Arsenal’s newly appointed manager Unai Emery has revealed his thoughts regarding the Gunners star playmaker Mesut Ozil.

Ozil came under fire from pundits and former players who felt the 29-year-old wasn’t working hard enough for the team.

Martin Keown launched a furious attack on Ozil following Arsenal’s semi-final defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Europa League.

Fortunately for Ozil, his new boss Emery does not share Keown’s point of view.

During his first press conference as Arsenal manager Emery hailed Ozil as a ‘big talent’.

“He’s one of biggest talents here at Arsenal and I want talented players here,” Emery told reporters during his first press conference.

“I want to spend time here with him and all players. I want to speak to them about how inspired and excited I am to be here.

“Above all I think this is a wonderful project and we all must give 100 percent – I expect that from players and myself.”

Ozil has been included in Joachim Low’s Germany squad which will travel to Russia for the World Cup.

The 29-year-old has provided 14 assists and scored five goals in 35 appearances for Arsenal this season. Ozil has missed the past two weeks of football due to a back injury.
