“I would still like to win the Champions League one day. Preferably with Arsenal” – Says £40m contract rebel
Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil has revealed that he would like to win the UEFA Champions League.
The comment comes despite the Gunners 10-2 aggregate defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich.
Ozil stated that he preferably wants to win Europe’s biggest competition as an Arsenal player.
The 28-year-old missed the majority of Tuesday’s 5-1 hammering by Bayern due to an illness. Ozil did however feature against Lincoln in the FA Cup on Saturday.

“You are never satisfied as an athlete. You need this motivation. I would still like to win the Champions League one day. Preferably with Arsenal,” Ozil told the German outlet Bild am Sonntag.
The former Real Madrid midfielder went onto speak about his love for London. Ozil stated that he would like to live in England’s capital city after his playing career ends.
“I can imagine living here [London] after my career. Perhaps splitting my time between London and Germany.”
Arsenal booked their place in the semi finals of the FA Cup following their weekend win over Lincoln. The Gunners take on West Brom in the Premier League next weekend.
Arsene Wenger’s side are currently in fifth place in the league, five points behind Liverpool. However, the Gunners do have two games in hand and can leap frog the Reds into a Champions League spot if they win both.
Ozil’s contract with the north London based club expires in July 2018.
The 28-year-old has stalled on contract negotiations and is yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal. Ozil did reveal that his future does not depend on whether Arsene Wenger stays or goes at the end of the season.
