Arsenal legend Ian Wright urged head coach Unai Emery to keep Mesut Ozil this summer insisting he is the ‘kind of player you want in your team’.

The former Gunners striker revealed that he has no problems with what Ozil earns because of what he offers the team – the Arsenal star earns approximately £350,000 per-week.

Wright told The Mirror: “I’m not for selling someone like Mesut Ozil because Mesut Ozil is the kind of player you want in your team.

“People can say whatever they want – levelling accusations that he doesn’t do it in this game or that game.

“The fact is that he is good enough to be doing it in those games.

“The amount of chances that Mesut Ozil is making on a regular basis, he’s top in all five European leagues.

“Now whether that’s Arsenal not getting the best out of him or people not taking the chances, he’s still creating them.

“I have no problem with Mesut Ozil earning what he is earning, because at the end of the day you need players around him that can bring the best out of him as well.”

Ozil has been linked with a summer exit despite his agent Dr Erkut Sogut clearly stating that the playmaker of Turkish origin will not be leaving.

Sogut told Turkish-Football“Rumours will always persist, there is no doubt about that. But one thing I can guarantee is Mesut’s loyalty. His mind is focused on Arsenal, and Arsenal only. Mesut bleeds Arsenal red, and respecting his contract is a certainty. He’ll be staying at Arsenal until at least 2021, and the fans need not to worry about the gossip that may come this summer. He has found a place he feels welcome and believes he has a lot more to give.”

Ozil still has another two-years on his contract and will be staying at the club this summer.

The 30-year-old has been in Turkey with his fiance Amine Gulse but has started training with the Arsenal team ahead of the Europa League final against Chelsea in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Ozil scored five goals and provided two assists in 24 appearances for the Gunners this season but did miss 14 Premier League games.
