‘If Lovren can get 100, then Can also Can’ – Liverpool fans react to defender getting contract before Emre Can on social media
Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren signed a new four-year contract worth around £100,000 per week today according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Reds have the option to extend the deal by additional 12 months which could see Lovren stay at Anfield until 2022.
Lovren became the latest Liverpool player to sign a new deal but the fact that the defender got a new contract before Emre Can sparked some controversy on Twitter.
Can will have just 12 months remaining on his contract at the end of the season but has yet to sign an extension.
The Reds could face the prospect of losing Can if an agreement is not reach this summer.

We can happily pay Lovren £100k a week but can’t match the demands of Emre Can? Baffling

I find it genuinely unbelievable we’ll pay Lovren nearly £100k p/w yet we won’t pay Emre Can a similar amount.
