Manchester City star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan had a night to forget during his side’s defeat in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

The Citizens suffered shock a 2-1 loss at the hands of Ligue 1 giants Lyon at the Etihad stadium.

Man City have now lost four UEFA Champions League games in a row. Manager Pep Guardiola was forced to watch the game from the stands after picking up a suspension last season.

Following the game, the Manchester Evening News rated every Man City player out of 10.

Ilkay Gundogan received a rating of 4/10 and was among the three lowest rated players.

“Lacking dynamism and ideas, it’s on nights like this that comparisons with De Bruyne mean he inevitably falls short. Needs greater contribution,” The MEN added beside their score regarding Gundogan.

Gundogan started on the bench for City’s previous two games and is likely to return there unless his performances improve in the near future.

Man City will be hoping to return to winning ways when they travel to Wales to take on Cardiff City in the Premier League this weekend.
