“We’re going to prove that we are ready” – Ilkay Gundogan challenges Man City to prove they are Champions against Chelsea
Germany international playmaker Ilkay Gundogan has challenged his teammates to defeat Chelsea and show the world they are ready to become Premier League champions again.
City travel south to London on Saturday to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge stadium, kick-off is scheduled for 17:30 (GMT).
The Citizens have been in exquisit form of late with seven back to back wins. Pep Guardiola’s side have scored 26 goals in their last seven games while conceding just twice.
Gundogan believes this weekend’s clash is the perfect chance for City to make a statement.

“If you ask the manager, there is always something to improve on,” Gundogan told Man City’s official website.
“But we know that we are a great team, we have great players and it’s just up to us to prove that.
“There are a lot of games and obviously Saturday is a huge game. It’s also about character, about going to Stamford Bridge against the champions to play our game.
“We’re going to prove that we are ready for that and hopefully it will be a great game for us.
“It’s a huge game and it’s away so it’s even more difficult – but we feel ready.”
Chelsea also come into this weekend’s encounter in good form. The Blues defeated Atletico Madrid in Spain on Wednesday night and are on a three game winning streak.
Ilkay Gundogan recently returned from a ten-month lay off due to a knee injury. The Germany international featured during Man City’s 2-0 victory over Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday evening.
