Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan scored his first Champions League brace since the 3-1 victory over Barcelona last season.

Gundogan scored twice in the 4-0 away win over Basel in the Last 16 first-leg tie in Switzerland.

The midfielder of Turkish origin opened the scoring with a well placed header but saved his best until last, finding the back of the net with a long-range effort for the fourth and final goal.

The 27-year-old was nominated for the UEFA Champions League Player of the Week following his brilliant display and will be competing against Real Madrid full-back Marcelo, Tottenham midfielder Eriksen and Liverpool forward Sadio Mane.

Mane scored a hat-trick in the Reds 5-0 victory over Porto, Marcelo meanwhile put on a stunning performance in the La Liga giants 3-1 win against PSG. Eriksen played a major role in Spurs coming from behind to hold Juventus to a 2-2 draw in Italy.
