‘Intense Pressure’ – Bayern Munich Boss Reacts to Galatasaray Champions League Clash

Galatasaray - Türk Telekom Arena

Galatasaray lost their first Champions League Group A game on Tuesday in Istanbul 3-1 against German giants Bayern Munich.

Although Galatasaray gave Bayern Munich a tough time at home, they lost the game. Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel made a surprising statement after the match, saying that Bayern deserved to win despite Galatasaray’s great performance and missed chances.

Tuchel explained that Galatasaray were well-organized and that Bayern gave them too many goal-scoring opportunities in the penalty area.

However, Bayern reacted well in the second half and improved their performance in both defense and attack.

Tuchel said that it is not easy to play in Galatasaray’s stadium under such intense pressure, but that Bayern are used to playing in difficult matches in the Champions League.

It was a very difficult match. There was an incredibly intense pressure on the pitch. Galatasaray forced us quite a bit. We continued the match under an incredible fan tempo. The first 60 minutes really pushed us a lot. It is not easy to play against them at Galatasaray stadium. We were not successful in winning the ball in the double fights in the first half,” he said.

Tuchel also said that Galatasaray have proven their maturity in Europe and have been very successful in recent years.

He admitted that it was not an easy match for Bayern and that they did not reach their desired level in the first half. However, Tuchel said that he is happy with the victory when the entire match is evaluated.

Galatasaray remain in second place in Group A following the defeat on four points, Bayern meanwhile extended their points tally to nine points at the top of the group.
