Jamie Redknapp Reveals Why Everton Striker Cenk Tosun Impressed Him With First Goal

Everton suffered a 2-1 defeat against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday in the Premier League.

The Toffees have now gone seven away games in all competitions without a win and have lost their last six games on the road.

It could have all been so different.

Sam Allardyce decided to give Cenk Tosun a start after dropping him behind Oumar Niasse in the pecking order for the previous four games.

Tosun repaid Tosun with the opening goal in what was his second shot on target.

The Turkey international also created two goals scoring opportunities which were squandered.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp praised Tosun and thought he did a great job getting so much power onto his header considering there was not a ‘great deal of pace on the cross’.

“Tosun does ever so well,” Redknapp said.

“It is a really good header because there is not a great deal of pace on the cross.”

“He has to put the pace into the header.”

The goal was Tosun’s first since joining Everton from Besiktas in January.

It was also the first time a Turkish international player has scored for the Toffees.

In fact it was the first time a Turkey international had scored in the Premier League since Jem Karacan netted for Reading in 2013.

Everton take on Brighton next at Goodison Park, as things start Tosun will be available.
