‘I am so jealous of Ozil’ – French striker reveals why he envies the Arsenal star

French international striker Olivier Giroud has revealed what it is about his Arsenal teammate that makes him so jealous.

The powerful forward underlined that he envies the fact Ozil has won the World Cup.

Giroud underlined that he wants to silence Ozil and his Germany international teammate Per Mertesacker in the Arsenal changing room by leading France to glory in the next World Cup.

Giroud told Le Figaro: “My ultimate dream for Les Bleus? To win the World Cup. This is the Holy Grail for a football player.

“I am so jealous of Ozil and Mertesacker in the locker room of Arsenal, they were world champions with Germany in Brazil in 2014. I want to match them so that they stop talking.

“In addition, when you win this trophy, you have it for four years, so they have time to hear you.”

Ozil played a major role in Germany winning the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The 28-year-old became the first Germany international of Turkish origin to lift the trophy.

The Arsenal star is currently on holiday in the US but faces an uncertain future at the club as he has just over 12 months remaining on his contract but has yet to sign an extension.

Ozil has been given the summer off by Germany national team boss Joachim Low who left him out of the Confederations Cup squad.

The playmaker finished the season with 12 goals and 14 assists in all competitions for the Gunners, lifting the FA Cup for a third time since joining from Real Madrid in 2013.
