The transfer season is not the transfer season without Wesley Sneijder being linked with Manchester United but with Jose Mourinho at the helm it may just become a reality this summer.

Turkish daily Aksam reported that the Portuguese manager is keen on being reunited with Sneijder as he would bring experience and prove to be a Mourinho loyalist.

Sneijder backed Mourinho throughout his tough time at Chelsea last season.

“He is not only good coach, he’s also a good person. People love it when he fails, But he deserves respect for what has done, especially in your country,” Sneijder told the Portuguese daily newspaper O Jogo.

Mourinho has also made no secret of his admiration for the Netherlands international in the past.

“Who is my perfect number 10? Wesley Sneijder and Deco. Because they could defend, get in the box and finish goals? Yes.” Mourinho was quoted as saying in the Telegraph.

Sneijder did of course play under the stewardship of Mourinho while at Inter Milan where the duo lifted the UEFA Champions League and Serie A under the Portuguese manager.

The experienced playmaker is available on a €7.5 million release clause and Galatasaray could be tempted to let him leave without a fight in order to comply with FFP regulations.

Sneijder helped Galatasaray lift the Turkish Cup last season and has won two league titles since joining the Lions from Inter.
