Jurgen Klopp reveals injury update ahead of crucial AS Roma clash

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken about Emre Can and Adam Lallana’s injuries.

Can has missed the last fortnight of football with a back injury and is at risk of not playing for Liverpool again.

The 24-year-old has under three months left on his contract and could end up leaving the club for free this summer.

During the pre-game press conference ahead of tonight’s clash with Bournemouth, Klopp told reporters that he not given up hope of Emre Can and Adam Lallana playing again this season.

“At first, I thought it would be difficult for him to play again,” Jurgen Klopp stated at the pre-match press conference.

“Now there’s still a chance it could be longer.

“Since then, Emre has developed really well, to be honest. If someone tells you the time it would take, it’s always a guess, it’s not 100%.

“With these kind of injuries, it’s different. He’s in good hands at the moment he’s not overly happy about the situation but he is quite positive it goes quicker than imagined. I’m ready for that.

“I know I said in the Germany interview when asked if his season was over ‘yes, probably’. But it’s not true anymore, to be honest.

“That’s good news, but he won’t be available for Bournemouth.

“It’s similar (to Emre). It will be close if he can come back again (this season).

“It makes no sense to rush him, but if Adam is available then we will see.”

Liverpool booked a place in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League following back-to-back wins over Manchester City.

The Reds have drawn AS Roma in the next round with the first leg to be played on Tuesday, April 24.

Can has registered five assists and scored six goals in 37 games.
