Juventus are set to sign Sassuolo defender Merih Demiral for €15m according to Gianluca di Marzio.

Atletico Madrid had been closely linked with Demiral and were alleged to have outbid the Serie A champions but it appears Juve have now won the race for the rising star.

The Old Lady had a €15m right to purchase from Sassuolo which they have exercised.

Demiral joined Sassuolo from Alanyaspor on loan in January and quickly established himself in the Serie A making 14 appearances and scoring twice.

The powerful defender took a risk three years ago joining Alcanenense in the Portuguese third tier from Fenerbahce in 2016.

He was later snapped up by Sporting before being loaned to Alanyaspor last summer.

After making a name for himself in the Super Lig he moved to Sassuolo after just six months and is now on the verge of completing his rise with a move to Italian giants Juventus.
