Fenerbahçe manager Ismail Kartal revealed that he prayed for Emmanuel Emenike to score and break his poor run of form in the derby against Beşiktaş.

Emenike has only scored four league goals this season and Fenerbahçe fans have started booing the Nigerian international.

“I prayed for Emenike to score and win over the fans again,” Kartal told Lig Tv.

Kartal urged the Fenerbahçe fans to be more understanding of the 28-year-old striker.

“The fans need to be more patient and understanding, he cannot change around his fortunes with everyone getting on his back,” he added.

The Nigerian international reacted to being booed in the first half by taking off his shirt and abandoned the game.

The Yellow Canaries head coach Ismail Kartal and his technical staff had to stop Emenike from walking down the tunnel.

Kartal eventually managed to convince Emenike to put his jersey back on and return to the pitch.
