Kevin Ratcliffe Reveals Thoughts On Everton Striker & What He Must Improve

Everton legend Kevin Ratcliffe has revealed his thought on January signing Cenk Tosun.

The Turkey international will be glad to know he has got the approval of Mr Ratcliffe but also been told what he must work on to improve.

In the section titled ‘Sun shines’ – very clever! – he wrote that what impressed him about Tosun is his movement, build-up player and his goals.

The mixture of goals is what really stood out, the Turkey international demonstrated how capable he is in the air when he opened the scoring against Burnley – despite Everton going onto lose.

Against Brighton the 26-year-old showed his passing ability and vision in pulling off a lovely one-two combination with Leighton Baines before blasting the ball off the underside of the crossbar into the back of the net.

Ratcliffe wrote the following in the Liverpool Echo: “Cenk Tosun looks like he could be the man to help Everton end the season positively.

“I thought Tosun’s movement in his very first game was refreshing.

“His touches were good and you could see what he was trying to do with his passing.

“His build up and link up play was good, too.

“Hopefully they’re the shape of things to come.”

There was however, one aspect of Tosun’s game Ratcliffe wants the Everton man to work on.

The former Besiktas man must keep working on his fitness to last the full 90 minutes.

“And since then Everton have worked on his fitness to get him in shape. He still isn’t lasting 90 minutes but he looks stronger and when he gets chances he is getting them on target,” he added.

Tosun has scored in his last two games for the Toffees and is expected to keep his place in the team against Stoke City at the Bet 365 Stadium on Saturday.
