Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has held talks with former Galatasaray manager Hamza Hamzaoğlu a source close to the manager told Turkish-football.com.
Current Lazio head coach Stefano Pioli is expected to resign or be pushed out after losing five out of his last six league games but Lippi has also been linked with taking over at the club according to the BBC.
Hamzaoğlu was fired just a fortnight ago from his role at Galatasaray despite leading the Lions to a historic double last season lifting the league title for an unprecedented 20th time and earning his side the right to add a fourth start to their crest.
The former Turkish national team assistant coach also won the Super Cup at the start of the season and had embarked upon a decent start to the 2015-16 league and Champions League campaigns.
Hamzaoğlu was not sacked based on performance or for footballing reasons but rather for disagreements with the current board at the club.
The 42-year-old manager is rated as one of the most promising coach in Turkey and before his stint at Galatasaray he managed to keep Akhisar in the top-flight on a shoestring budget and unearthed players like Oumar Niasse who is now wanted by Chelsea.
