Leeds United are set to face serious competition in the race to sign Uruguay international forward Abel Hernandez.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds remain hopeful of concluding a deal to sign the 27-year-old after holding advanced talks with the player’s agent.

Hernandez is expected to leave Hull City this summer after failing to pen a contract extension. His current deal expires at the end of the month.

The Uruguay international netted 28 goals in 49 championship appearances for the Tigers this term and almost made a £20 million move to Villa last summer.

However, Turkish outlet Fanatik have revealed that Galatasaray are also interested in signing Hernandez. The Lions are being monitored by UEFA for financial fair play making the proposition of signing the Uruguay star on a free extremely attractive.

Per the source, Galatasaray are in talks with Hernandez and are close to agreeing on a deal.

Hernandez took to social media earlier this week to state that an announcement on his future was imminent.
