Leeds United are stepping up their efforts to sign highly-rated Besiktas striker Semih Kilicsoy, with reports indicating the club has been actively scouting the young Turkish talent and is now engaged in discussions through intermediaries, sources have told Turkish-Football.
The 19-year-old forward has emerged as a prime target for Leeds as they look to strengthen their attacking options following their promotion back to the Premier League.
Sources close to the negotiations suggest that Leeds have been impressed by Kilicsoy’s potential and believe he could be a valuable long-term asset.
Kilicsoy’s strong performances for Besiktas in recent seasons have attracted significant attention from across Europe.
While details on the exact nature of the talks remain under wraps, it’s understood that Leeds are exploring a deal, potentially a loan with a view to a permanent transfer or a direct purchase.
Besiktas could be willing to part ways with the player for a fee in the region of €15 million to £18 million, especially after securing the signing of Tammy Abraham.
Last season (2023-2024), Kilicsoy showcased his burgeoning talent, registering 11 goals and 3 assists in 23 Süper Lig appearances. Though his game time reportedly reduced in the 2024-2025 season due to the arrival of other forwards, his underlying statistics from his breakout campaign suggest a dynamic and effective presence in the final third.
Leeds United’s manager Daniel Farke is keen to bolster his squad with players who can adapt to the demands of the Premier League. While the club has already made some signings this summer, the pursuit of a promising striker like Kilicsoy indicates a strategic focus on blending youth with experience and adding attacking versatility.
The coming days are expected to be crucial as Leeds push to formalize their interest and reach an agreement with Besiktas for the services of the young Turkish international.
