Leeds United join Besiktas in race to sign 22-year-old forward

Championship side Leeds United are among several English clubs set to rivals Besiktas in the race to sign former Newcastle United forward Yasin Ben El-Mhanni.

The Turkish outlet Futbol Arena has provided an update regarding the transfer race.

Per the source, Leeds United, Watford and Wolves have expressed an interest in the 22-year-old forward.

The report goes onto state that Besiktas are lining up a contract offer for El-Mhanni, whose contract with Newcastle United expired last week.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claim that Nottingham Forrest are also interested in the London-born player.

Yasin Ben El-Mhanni is yet to make a senior Premier League appearance and spent last season playing in the Newcastle United U23 side.

The 22-year-old did, however, make his Newcastle debut in the FA Cup during the Magpies third-round win over Birmingham back in January 2017.

Besiktas are expected to make changes to their squad following a turbulent 12-months which saw them finish the league in fourth spot. The Black Eagles are keen to lower the average age of their squad over the summer.
