27 goal Leeds United star striker Chris Wood to stay put after Euro giants sign Spain international
Besiktas have withdrawn their interest in Leeds United striker Chris Wood.
The Black Eagles completed the transfer of Alvaro Negredo yesterday evening. The 31-year-old will undergo his Besiktas medical before completing his move on a three-year deal.
According to the Sun, Leeds were also interested in the former Man City star. Negredo scored ten goals in 39 appearances for the La Liga giants last season.
A source close to the Besitkas revealed to Turkish-Footbal.com that the club will not sign another striker this summer.
Turkish outlet Fotomac recently claimed that the Istanbul Giants were interested in Leeds United’s New Zealand international Chris Wood. Per the source, Besiktas had sent scouts to monitor the powerful striker.
Wood scored 27 goals in 44 Championship appearances for Leeds last term.
Senol Gunes’ side were on the look-out for a new striker following the departure of Vincent Aboubakar and Demba Ba earlier this summer.
Besiktas are expected to complete the transfer of Negredo on Thursday evening after he passes his medical.
Last time I checked, Middlesbrough were neither in La Liga or giants.
