Leverkusen's Omer Toprak maintains silence over national team

Bayer Leverkusen centre back Ömer Toprak has maintained his silence over his omission from the national team.

The 25-year-old defender spoke to reporters following first team training with Leverkusen.

When asked about the upcoming game against Hannover 96 who are managed by Tayfun Korkut, Toprak said “It is going to be a tough games. Tayfun has a very good understanding of the game. We will do everything we can to win.”

The former Freiburg player refused to comment when asked about the national team, only saying “One day if I talk, I will explain everything.”

Töre, Toprak and Çalhanoğlu were involved in an altercation last year which resulted in a gun being pulled on the Bayer players.

Töre was reported to have had a fight with a friend of Toprak while a friend of the Beşiktaş winger held a gun to both Bayer players.

Terim has been heavily criticised for the decision to drop the Bayer duo and give Gökhan Töre the call up.

Toprak has made 16 appearances for Leverkusen this season.
