Emre Can started in Liverpool’s emphatic 4-1 win against Swansea in the Premier League.

Adam Lallana scored a brace, former Liverpool player Jonjo Shelvey scored an own goal and Alberto Moreno hit the back of the net to secure one of the Reds most convincing wins of the season.

Can started his first Premier League game since Liverpool’s 2-1 loss against Chelsea last month.

The 20-year-old started in defence instead of his usual midfield role after impressing in Liverpool’s 1-0 win against Burnley.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers had hinted that Can could make an appearance as a defender following the Burnley game.

“He played centre-half in one of the games I took in last year when I went to see him. He played there in a 4-2-3-1,” Rodgers said.

Can put on a solid defensive display, completing one successful tackle and interception as well as three clearances.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star completed 54 passes at 90 percent accuracy and three accurate long passes.

Liverpool moved into 8th position on 28 points following the win against Swansea.
