Liverpool ace Lucas Leiva talks reach advanced stage over summer transfer

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is in advanced talks with Trabzonspor over a summer transfer according to reports in Turkey.

Haberturk claim that Leiva is demanding £3 million per-season [€3.5m] but that Trabzonspor are only willing to pay a salary of £2.2 million [€2.5m].

Per the source, if a compromise is reached the transfer will be completed.

The club are keen on making a number of marquee signings to celebrate their 50th year anniversary.

The Black Sea based side have been using Arda Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut to negotiate the deal.

Bulut has been given a mandate to operate on behalf of the club.

This practice is commonplace among major Turkish clubs who often use agents for talks with foreign clubs.

Lucas’ wage demands have proven a stumbling block in the past regarding a move to the Super Lig.

The Brazilian was demanding a salary of £4.2 million a-season from Gremio according to the Express earlier this month.

A source close to Besiktas revealed to Turkish-Football that the club was forced to pull out of talks with Lucas due to his wage demands.

The 30-year-old is the longest serving member in the current Reds squad having joined from Gremio in 2007.

Lucas has made 346 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League giants and has 12 months remaining on his contract.
