Liverpool Boss Convinced Star Midfielder Wants To Play For Club Despite Reports That Euro Giants Have Struck 5-Year Deal

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp remains confident that star duo Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho want to play for the team despite being linked with an Anfield exit.

Klopp believes both players are fully focused and have not been distracted by rumours linking them with a move.

Can in particular has been closely linked with a transfer to Juventus as he is approaching the end of his contract.

The midfielder of Turkish origin will be a free agent unless an agreement is reached over a new deal.

As of yet the Reds have not had a breakthrough as far as an extension is concerned.

“Neither Emre nor Phil gave me one second the impression that they are not interested in what we are doing here,” Klopp was quoted as saying in the Independent.

“And that is all I care about until the moment we have to make a decision. That’s all. So far both these two did really well.

“They are completely in the team and they will be until it is not like this anymore and when this will be I have no clue. As long as nobody comes to me and says he’s gone or has signed a new contract. It’s all about the behaviour of the players. I work with them all day.

“If we want to sell a player we don’t go every day to him and tell him. We want to keep him in best shape until the day and when the situation is there we will tell him. So day by day it has no influence as long as the players are fine.”

Reports on Italian television network Rai Sport recently claimed that Can has already reached a five-year deal with Juventus worth €5 million per-season.

Despite the latest reports Klopp has continued to give the 23-year-old first-team opportunities.

Can has four goals and two assists in 21 appearances for the Premier League giants this season.

The midfielder has made the squad for the Reds clash against Arsenal on Friday.
