Liverpool Boss Delivers Everton Transfer Boost After Addressing Reports That Reds Have Made Offer For World Cup Finalist

Liverpool and Everton have been closely linked with a move for Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida.

The Turkish media have persistently reported both sides as being in talks, making offers and reaching deals in principle.

The Reds have been linked with a defender this summer and following the injury of Joel Matip it did look like they may just bring in another centre-back.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has however, made it clear that he does not need a new defender and that is partly down to the versatility of Joe Gomez.

When asked if he wants a new option at the back, Klopp replied: ”This summer, no. I don’t see the need.

“Joe Gomez, playing in that role as a central defender, he combines a lot of things you don’t find on the transfer market so I don’t see the need at the moment.”

Gomez had surgery earlier this summer due to an ankle problem but is expected to be fit for their Premier League opener against West Ham on Sunday August 12.

The latest development will serve as a boost to Everton and the other sides linked with the 29-year-old.

Interestingly enough Turkish football agent Ugur Avadan, who has close ties to Besiktas, did recently confirmed that Liverpool and Everton tabled an offer for Vida.

“Liverpool and Everton are huge clubs that have made offers,” Avadan told Radyospor.

Besiktas press officer Metin Albayrak as admitting to offers being made for the defender.

“We have received offers for Vida and we are considering them but that does not mean he will definitely leave,” Albayrak stated.

Besiktas president Fikret Orman made it clear there are offers but appeared a bit fed up with the rumors rumours.

“I am reading, 30 million, 40 million, 50 million offers, there are so many rumours floating around,” Orman said.

“Yes we have had offers for Vida, verbal offers but nothing more.

“We haven’t said if they bring this much money we will sell either.”
