Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp issues update on Emre Can injury

Liverpool v Everton Liverpool news Emre Can Liverpool star man of the match

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has issued an update on Emre Can’s injury situation after the Germany international was forced off during the Red’s win over Burton in the League cup.

Can went down midway through the second half of the Reds’ 5-0 victory last night without any contact from an opposing player.

“He had a little pain in his ankle without any touch – I couldn’t see any contact. It was a long leg, then a little bit floppy and then he had pain,” Klopp told Liverpool’s official website.

“But it is not that serious. It’s not that big [of a] pain anymore, but it’s the ankle he had problems with at the end of last season, so he’s a little bit worried.

“Hopefully it’s nothing too serious.”

Can missed the Premier League Burnley clash last weekend with a minor back injury and had yet to reach 100 percent match fitness.

The German tactician could be without his star midfielder for the trip to White Hart Lane to take on Tottenham on the weekend as a result.

Liverpool are already in the midst of an injury crisis and would be in trouble going into the Tottenham game with Can sidelined as well.
