Liverpool Captain Puts A Stop To Emre Can Interrogation After Midfielder Struggled To Answer Contract Question

Liverpool star Emre Can was picked the BT Sport man of the match after his display in the 3-0 win over Huddersfield in the Premier League on Tuesday.

Can scored the opening goal with a stunning long-range effort and did win the penalty for his sides third and final goal.

The big question does however remain, will he be staying or leaving this summer.

Can was interrogated over his future in his post-match interview after being awarded the man of the match.

The midfielder of Turkish origin appeared slightly rattled with the questioning and underlined that he has already said ‘100 times’ that his agent is working on the contract situation.

“I said 100 times I’m still contracted here and my agent are doing the other things,” Can said.

Jordan Henderson stepped in and put a stop to the questions over Can’s future with a diplomatic answer – very captainly.

Henderson then said: “If he keeps putting in man of the match performances in it doesn’t matter.”

Can will be a free agent at the end of the season unless he strikes a contract extension deal.

The 24-year-old has however, been closely linked with a move to Juventus as well.

The Italian giants have made no secret they are in talks with Can’s representatives.

Juve CEO Giuseppe Marotta claims his club has made contact with Liverpool over a proposed move.

“Emre Can’s contract is expiring in the summer so you would expect that a club like ours have attention on him,” he said.

“We have initiated contact but it does not mean it’s done. It will not be easy as Liverpool also want to renew his contract, without forgetting that there will be other clubs in for him.

“Our attempt is made with every effort possible.”

So after all that we are no closer to discovering whether Can will stick or twist.
