Liverpool Contact Trabzonspor About Ugurcan Cakir But Face Competition From Lille & Celta Vigo

Liverpool have contacted Trabzonspor regarding the availability of goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

Haberglobal journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claims that the Reds, Celta Vigo and Lille have all made enquiries to Trabzonspor asking the Super Lig side to name their price.

The Black Sea based side meanwhile, as considering increasing Cakir’s wages in order to convince him to stay on at the club next summer.

The Reds currently have Simon Mignolet as backup for Alisson Becker but he only has two-years remaining on his contract and it remains to be seen whether he will be keen on playing second fiddle for the second successful season.

Evening Standard‘s David Lynch writes that sources close to the goalkeeper have told him that he is “keen to reignite his career this summer by moving on in search of regular football.”

Mignolet made just two appearances in all competitions last term.

Cakir has been in impressive form for Trabzonspor since establishing himself in the first-team in November 2018.

The 23-year-old rose through the ranks of the Trabzonspor satellite club Trabzon 1461 before being taken on by the Super Lig outfit.

The Turkey international conceded 28 goals and kept seven clean sheets in 15 league games last season.
