Liverpool contract news: Emre Can refuses to comment on Reds future

Liverpool star midfielder Emre Can has remained coy regarding his situation at the Merseyside based club.

Can’s contract with the Reds expires in a little over 12 months as contract talks remain ongoing between the club and the player.

The 23-year-old has revealed that he is happy at Liverpool during an interview with the Times.

Can went onto state that he is happy with playing in midfield under Jurgen Klopp. The Germany international was deployed as defender during Brendan Rodgers spell in charge.

However, Can did not state if his future was at Liverpool or if he is keen to put pen-to-paper on a new deal.

“I have still a contract here and I am very happy. That’s all I can say,” Emre Can told the Times.

“Since Klopp is here I played just one position and that’s very, very good.

“It’s important you play a long time in one position, to learn it properly.

“I am more definite, stronger in the tackles. Klopp always wants you to give everything in a game.”

The Reds were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by Southampton on Sunday. Jurgen Klopp side find themselves in third place with 70 points after 36 games.
